Description
A pair of Sitzendorf porcelain three-light candelabra executed in the Rococo Revival style. Each piece features a central shaft and two scrolled arms heavily encrusted with polychrome porcelain rose blossoms and foliage. Each arm and the central shaft terminates in a candle cup with a lobed, leaf-form drip pan. The tall bases each feature two figures of cherubs or putti modeled in high relief amidst a bed of encrusted flowers, supported on four scrolled feet with gilded accents. The underside of one base is incised with the numbers 343 over 4 and features an orange overglaze decorator mark 90. 19 3/4″ H x 6 3/4″ W x 7″ D. Location: 13B
Condition report:
Condition is fair. Visible damage includes a significant loss to one leaf-form drip pan, one missing drip pan, and a missing left hand on one cherub figure. There are scattered small chips and losses to the delicate encrusted floral petals throughout. Minor wear to the gilded accents is present.
