Description

Pair of 19th-century biscuit porcelain portrait relief plaques featuring neoclassical profile portraits depicting the Comtesse de Breteuil and Louise de France. The plaques are mounted in oval gilded metal frames with beaded and foliate borders. Each frame is equipped with a hanging ring for display. A small incised script mark reading LR is present to the right of the bust on the Louise de France plaque. 7 1/2″ H x 6 1/2″ W. Location: 19C

Condition report:

The plaques are in excellent antique condition. The high-relief porcelain details remain crisp and undamaged. There is minor yellowing and light staining visible at the bottom edges where the porcelain meets the frame. The gilded finish on the frames shows minor age-appropriate wear and light tarnish, primarily on the reverse side. The brass backing plates show minor scuffs and surface wear.
