Description

A matched pair of monumental neoclassical style garden urns. Each urn is cast in a campana-style form, featuring a wide, fluted body and a flared, scalloped rim. The decorative program includes two handles modeled as ram’s head masks supporting cast swags of fruit and floral garlands. The urns are supported by integrated pedestal bases with acanthus leaf moldings and rest on stepped octagonal plinths. The urns are made of cast iron with visible vertical casting seams. No maker’s marks or foundry stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces or bases. 68″ H x 52″ W x 38″ D. This lot is located offsite in Rumson, New Jersey and will be available for PICKUP ONLY. Specific pickup instructions including the address and available pickup dates and times will be provided shortly after the auction.

Condition report:

Both urns are in a weathered condition with heavy surface oxidation and rust throughout. There are significant remnants of a light-colored paint finish, primarily visible in the recessed areas of the casting.
