Lot 36:
Description
A Royal Worcester porcelain ewer featuring a tapered conical form and relief-molded details characteristic of the Aesthetic Movement. The handle, spout, and upper neck are modeled to resemble sections of blue bamboo with gilded highlights and molded leaves. The circular base is finished with a textured blue-grey molded border and a gilded rim. The cream-colored body is hand-painted with a botanical motif of trailing vines and foliage in muted shades of green, red, and blue, featuring two prominent orange-red seed pods and fine raised gold paste accents. The underside of the base is marked with a purple printed registration mark Rd No 87803, the printed shape number 1333, an indistinct impressed symbol, and a hand-painted orange mark. 10″ H x 5″ W x 4″ D. Location: 15C
Condition report:
The ewer is in very good condition consistent with age. Minor rubbing and surface wear are visible on the gilded highlights, particularly on the rim of the spout. No chips, cracks, or signs of professional restoration are observed. Three dark brown felt pads have been applied to the underside of the base.
