Description

This group consists of sixteen pieces of fine porcelain and bone china comprising four partial dinnerware services. The collection includes three patterns by designer Georges Briard and one pattern by Coalport. The Georges Briard Royale pattern is decorated with a stylized brown and orange leaf-motif border and gilded trim on a white ground. This set includes a dinner plate, a salad plate, a bread and butter plate, and a footed coffee cup, all marked on the base with text describing the pattern history and the Georges Briard signature. The Briard Rose pattern features a central botanical rose surrounded by a wide rim with a green malachite pattern and gilded edges. It includes a dinner plate, two soup bowls, and a footed coffee cup, all marked with text identifying the pattern as part of the Georges Briard private collection. The Floral Fantasy pattern includes a dinner plate, a salad plate, a soup bowl, and a footed coffee cup featuring multi-colored floral sprays inspired by eighteenth-century faience with a reddish-brown rim line. The bases are marked with the pattern name and a Georges Briard copyright notice. The Coalport Fortune pattern includes a dinner plate, a salad plate, a bread and butter plate, and a footed coffee cup decorated with floral bouquets and scalloped gilded rims. These pieces are marked with the blue Coalport crown backstamp stating Bone China, Made in England, Est. 1750, and the pattern name Fortune. Location: 6B
