Description
This large ten-light table lamp features a central cast metal female figure in classical dress supporting a fluted column that branches into two tiers of scrollwork candle arms. The upper tier consists of four arms and the lower tier has six. The arms are decorated with acanthus leaf motifs, floral rosettes, and stylized bird-head terminals. The figure stands on a square pedestal base with relief-cast panels depicting winged figures flanking a central lyre and floral garlands. The pedestal is mounted on a thick, square base of variegated grey and pink marble. The lamp is electrified with ten frosted flame-tipped bulbs set within faux-drip plastic candle sleeves. The wiring includes a brown two-prong cord and an inline switch marked Gilbert. 34″ H x 16″ W x 16″ D. Location: 18A
Condition report:
The gilt finish shows surface wear with darkening and oxidation in the recessed details of the casting, along with light surface pitting consistent with age. The marble base exhibits minor nicks and natural surface variations along its edges. The faux-drip plastic candle sleeves are modern replacements. A silver-toned metal washer is visible beneath one of the candle cups. The lamp has been re-wired for modern use and is in functional working order.
