Description

A French brass alarm carriage clock featuring a rectangular case with beveled glass panels on all four sides and a top viewing aperture exposing the platform escapement. The clock is fitted with a folding ribbed handle and a repeat button on the top plate. The white enamel dial displays black Arabic numerals for the hours and includes a subsidiary alarm dial at the six o’clock position. The movement backplate is inscribed vertically with the name Reneville and marked centrally with the instructions Aiguilles and Reveil. The regulator is marked F and S for fast and slow. The base is stamped with the serial number 2172. The clock is accompanied by its original leather-covered wooden carrying case featuring a velvet-lined interior and a sliding front panel. 4 1/2″ H x 3 1/2″ W x 3″ D. Location: 14C


Condition report:

The clock is in fair antique condition. The brass case exhibits overall surface oxidation and tarnish. The top brass plate is currently detached from the main body. The enamel dial and glass panels appear intact without significant chips or cracks. The movement is untested and a winding key is not present. The leather carrying case is in poor, severely distressed condition with significant losses to the leather covering and a broken carrying strap.
