Description
William A. Brigl (German 1903-1990) is titled A Glimpse of the Last Century. The marine composition depicts a multi-masted sailing ship navigating through turbulent, choppy waters, shown listing significantly as it crests a large wave. The work is signed W. A. Brigl in the lower-left corner. The verso of the canvas reveals a traditional wooden stretcher with a handwritten inscription on the top bar reading 84/244 – A Glimpse of the Last Century – by Wm. A. Brigl. An ink stamp on the upper-left canvas states REPRODUCTION RIGHTS RESERVED BY ARTIST WM. A. BRIGL AND WIFE. The painting is presented in an ornate, gold-toned wood and gesso frame with scrolling foliate motifs and a neutral linen-covered inner liner. Framed: 32 x 37.5 in. Canvas: 24.5 x 33 in.

Condition report:
The painting is in overall very good condition. The canvas is taut on its original stretchers. There are no visible signs of repair, flaking, or mechanical damage to the paint layer. Minor surface dust is present consistent with age. The frame shows minor surface wear and light abrasions to the gilded finish, typical of its age.
