The set consists of an oval, footed outer vessel featuring a split, hinged domed lid and a tall central handle. The vessel is adorned with two ornate cast side handles and stands on four decorative cabriole-style feet detailed with scroll and geometric diamond motifs. The front of the vessel is engraved with a large Gothic-style monogram M. The interior contains a removable silver-plated insert with circular apertures for six eggs and two scroll-form handles. This vessel was designed to be filled with hot water to keep cooked eggs warm. Marked on the underside. 14″ H x 8″ W x 8″ D.
Location: 14C
Condition report:
The item is in fair to good antique condition. There is significant tarnish and surface oxidation across all exterior and interior surfaces. Visible wear to the silver plating is present on the underside and in high-contact areas, revealing the yellowish-tone base metal. Minor surface scratches and small nicks are present, consistent with age and domestic use. The hinges and handles are intact and functional, but the caddy leans to one side and does not stand completely upright.
