Description
This collection of sterling silver table articles features a pair of dwarf candlesticks and eight individual salt and pepper shakers. The candlesticks, manufactured by the Alvin Silver Co., are designed in a classical style with gadrooned rope-twist borders decorating the rims and bases. The undersides of the candlesticks are stamped with the maker’s mark ALVIN, STERLING, CEMENT FILLED, REINFORCED WITH ROD OF OTHER METAL, and the model number S160. The eight individual salt and pepper shakers are of a simple baluster form with circular pierced tops. Each shaker is stamped on the base with STERLING and the maker’s mark V.L. Tallest pieces measure 3 1/2 inches. Unweighted sterling: 42 grams.
Condition report:
All pieces show significant heavy tarnish and oxidation across their surfaces. The candlesticks exhibit surface wear and scattered areas of pitting. At least one shaker shows visible green verdigris corrosion.
