Description
This is a set of 40 pieces of sterling silver flatware in the Strasbourg pattern, manufactured by the Gorham Manufacturing Company of Providence, Rhode Island. Designed by William C. Codman and patented in 1897, the pattern is characterized by rococo-style scrolled borders and shell-capped handles with a central cartouche. The set includes dinner forks, teaspoons, dessert or oval soup spoons, and tablespoons. Each piece features a script monogram, appearing to be the letter D. The handles bear the Gorham trademark consisting of a lion passant facing right, an anchor, and a blackletter capital G. Additional stamps include STERLING, 925/1000, and PAT. 1897.
