Description
Emmanuel Villanis (French, 1858-1914). Art Nouveau bronze bust of a woman titled Iris. The bust is mounted on a separate, rectangular, polished reddish-brown variegated marble plinth. The work bears an incised signature reading E. Villanis on the proper left shoulder and the title IRIS cast in relief on the front of the integral base. 22″ H x 10.5″ W x 6″ D.

Condition report:
The sculpture exhibits a prominent vertical fissure or casting separation line on the proper right side of the chest and shoulder. The patina shows areas of green verdigris and oxidation, particularly within the recessed details of the flowers and base. The marble plinth has minor flea bite chips along the edges. The underside of the marble base is finished with black felt.
