Description

A set of six Japanese ceramic vessels in the Barkware style. The collection includes a large charger, a tall ovoid vase, a bulbous vase, a small cylindrical vase, a lidded ginger jar, and a circular lidded box. Each piece is embellished with polychrome enamel decorations featuring naturalistic Japanese motifs including songbirds, butterflies, chrysanthemums, bamboo, and assorted foliage. The large charger features a repetitive geometric fretwork border at the rim.

Condition report:

The lidded ginger jar has a small chip on the upper rim exposing the white ceramic body. The enamel decorations show minor incidental surface scuffs. Bases show expected shelf wear and minor discoloration consistent with age. Both lidded items retain their original covers.
