Description
A group of six Japanese Banko-yaki ceramic pieces featuring a distinctive hand-formed texture resembling tree bark. The collection consists of one large charger and five vases of varying forms, including a long-necked bulbous vase, a flared trumpet vase, an ovoid wide-mouthed vase, and two tapered ovoid vases. All items are decorated with applied polychrome enamels in a moriage style, depicting traditional motifs of birds such as swallows and quails amidst seasonal flora including lilies, chrysanthemums, and wisteria. The charger features a dark brown textured interior face and a white-glazed reverse with underglaze blue floral sprigs. One vase base is marked with underglaze blue characters reading Dai Nippon Banko Zo, which translates to Great Japan Banko Made. The bulbous vase base displays a red handwritten inventory number 7251 and remnants of a paper label.

Condition report:
The items are in good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Surface soiling and dust are present within the textured recesses of the barkware bodies. There is minor rubbing and scattered small losses to the raised enamel decoration. The charger shows minor staining and shelf wear to the unglazed foot ring and white-glazed reverse. No chips, cracks, or professional repairs are visible.
