Description

This Japanese color woodblock print (ukiyo-e) is by the artist Ochiai Yoshiku (1833–1904). The composition depicts two women processing green leaves, likely tea, in an outdoor setting featuring a stream and pine trees. The background includes hanging scrolls; one depicts a Shinto or Buddhist deity identified as Kasa Daimyojin, and two others show horses in motion. The print is signed in the lower left within a vertical cartouche reading Ochiai Yoshiku hitsu accompanied by a red artist seal. To the right of the signature is the square publisher mark for Tsujioka Bunsuke (Tsujibun) and a circular censor seal. 10 x 7 1/4 inches.

Location: wb1-17
