Description
A walnut buffet cabinet in the Renaissance Revival style, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The piece features a rectangular pink and cream mottled marble top with a tiered, beveled edge. The cabinet body is constructed with book-matched walnut veneers and features two front-opening doors. Each door contains a relief-carved panel depicting ornate scrolling foliate and strapwork patterns centered on a circular boss. The case is flanked by fluted pilasters topped with scrolled corbels and finished with matching scrolled blocks at the base. The interior provides three levels of storage across two wooden shelves. The back displays period panel construction. Hardware includes two ornate foliate-pattern cast-metal escutcheons and a single metal key. 35″ H x 40″ W x 17.5″ D.
Condition report:
Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. Notable defects include small chips and finish loss on the wood molding at the lower edge of the cabinet doors. Side panels show horizontal surface scratches and abrasions. Minor scuffs and wear to the finish are present throughout. The marble top is intact with natural inclusions and no visible cracks or repairs.
