Description
A Victorian brass standing towel rack featuring a fluted central column surmounted by a spherical ball finial. The rack is equipped with two height-adjustable tiers, each composed of decorative scrolled arms supporting a single horizontal towel bar. These tiers are secured to the central shaft via knurled brass thumbscrews. The piece stands on a tripod base with scrolled feet reinforced by a circular stabilizing ring. Construction details include knurled decorative sections on the arms and a stepped circular mount for the central column. No maker marks or stamps are present on the metalwork. 46″ H x 18″ W x 14″ D.
Condition report:
The brass surfaces exhibit an overall aged patina with significant tarnish and surface oxidation throughout. Minor pitting and encrustation are visible on several cast components, particularly around the scrolled arms and base. The horizontal bars show surface wear consistent with use but remain straight. Structural integrity is sound with all adjustable components functioning as intended.
