Description
Oil on canvas, landscape depicting a tranquil forest scene. Signed Mrs Black in the lower left corner and inscribed in pencil Mrs Black on the verso. Verso also features a partially damaged supplier label from F. Weber and Co., Philadelphia. The work is housed in a substantial multi-tiered gilt wood frame which is inscribed Tom’s Dustin 1930 in pencil on the reverse. Sight: 15 x 23 in. Frame: 22 x 30 in.

Condition report:
The painting exhibits craquelure throughout the entire paint layer. A small puncture is visible in the upper right sky area. The surface shows accumulation of dirt and grime, along with minor surface abrasions and horizontal scratches in the upper quadrant. Significant foxing and staining are present on the back of the canvas. The gilt frame shows minor chips, cracking to the gesso, and wear to the gilding.
