Description
Universal City Studios. Cardboard pop-up promotional display for the 1983 motion picture Jaws 3-D. The display is constructed of heavy cardstock printed with a blue gradient background and red and yellow three-dimensional lettering. A central die-cut element is engineered to pop out into a three-dimensional representation of a Great White Shark with an open maw. Marked on the verso © 1982 Universal City Studios, Inc, printed in USA. 14 3/4″ H x 22″ W x 2 1/2″ D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Poor condition. The item is torn along the center. Cardstock is missing from the top edge, resulting in the loss of letters in the tagline. The pop-up shark element is creased and torn at the base attachment points. Moderate to heavy edge wear, corner blunting, and surface scuffing are visible throughout.
