Description
An assortment of production stationery and promotional ephemera associated with the literary works and film adaptations of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006). The collection includes materials for Jaws, The Island, Beast, and Amazon. The Jaws stationery features a black printed shark head logo and is marked for A Zanuck/Brown Production at 100 Universal City Plaza. The Island stationery consists of letterhead and envelopes with a cyan and yellow gradient design and reflected title logo. Beast materials include NBC Entertainment Press & Publicity letterhead featuring giant squid tentacle graphics and three promotional postcards depicting the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and a close-up eye motif. The Amazon stationery is marked for Amazon Productions Inc. in Toronto and features a stylized brush-stroke title logo.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The paper collection is in good unused condition. There is visible yellowing consistent with age on the Jaws and The Island letterhead. Occasional minor handling creases and light corner wear are present across the assortment. No significant tears or stains are observed.
