Description
Original promotional film T-shirt for The Island (Universal Pictures, 1980), formerly the property of Wendy Benchley. Cotton and polyester blend with a screen-printed graphic, tagged Head Tees size large. Women’s garment with a scoop neckline, cap sleeves, and an unfinished bottom hem with overlock stitching. Tag is also marked WB for Wendy Benchley.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Fraying and loose threads are present at the unfinished bottom hem. There is visible light pilling and surface fuzzing across the fabric. Minor discoloration and yellowing is present in the underarm areas. The interior neck label shows significant fading to the orange text.
