Description
Peter Benchley’s promotional production crew gear drawstring knapsack for the television series Amazon (1999–2000). The bag is constructed of tan-colored cotton canvas and features a black rope drawstring closure threaded through six brass-tone metal grommets. The front is decorated with embroidered text reading PETER BENCHLEY’S AMAZON in black and red, accompanied by a black stylized spider graphic. The bag includes an external vertical zippered pocket on the front and a single black webbing shoulder strap with adjustable brass-tone hardware. The interior is fully lined with black synthetic fabric and contains an additional zippered compartment. An adhesive label is attached to the interior pocket reading 1999 Amazon Productions, Inc. An Alliance Atlantis Company. 18 3/4" H x 19" W x 9" D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The canvas shows light surface wrinkling and minor signs of use. There is a small white paint-like stain or scuff located on the lower front center of the bag. The embroidery remains intact and free of fraying. The interior lining and zippers are in good functional condition. The brass-tone hardware shows no visible oxidation.
