Description
Two collectible pins belonging to Peter Benchley including a political campaign button and a Soviet commemorative lapel pin. The larger item is a lenticular campaign button for Richard Nixon, featuring a flicker effect that alternates between a black and white portrait of Nixon and the phrase I’M FOR NIXON. It is constructed with a plastic lenticular lens secured within a blue metal rim. The verso is coated in blue paint and displays a printed white mark reading VARI-VUE by PICTORIAL PRODUCTIONS, INC. MT. VERNON, N. Y., U.S.A. PAT. NO. 2,815,310, along with a union logo for the Amalgamated Lithographers of America. The second item is a shield-shaped souvenir pin representing Moscow as part of the Golden Ring tourist route. It is made of gold-tone base metal with cream and red enamel. The central crest depicts Saint George on horseback, the coat of arms for Moscow. The textured verso features a safety pin attachment and is marked with a small device and the price Ц 15к.

Condition report:
Both pins are in good vintage condition. The Nixon button displays light surface scratches and minor yellowing to the lenticular surface. The blue metal rim shows small areas of paint loss and oxidation around the outer edges. The reverse of the Nixon pin has minor scuffing and small spots of rust. The enamel on the Moscow pin is well-preserved with no visible chips or cracks.
