Vintage die-cut promotional display for Jaws (Universal, 1975). The piece is constructed from heavyweight blue-printed cardstock and marked Made in USA. Unfolded: 18 3/8" H x 22 5/8" W. Folded: 14 5/8" H x 16" W.
Universal sent its promotional material to the author as it went out to theaters. This standee is from that shipment.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund.
Condition report:
Significant creasing is present along horizontal and vertical factory fold lines. There is tearing and paper loss at the fold junctions on the lower base flaps. Die-cut edges show scuffing and softening. The reverse shows age-related yellowing and faint scattered staining.
