Description
Peter Benchley’s personal Jaws T-shirt, gifted to him by director Steven Spielberg during the era of the 1975 film production. Accompanied by a note from Wendy Benchley reading: "Peter’s Jaws T-shirt given to him by Spielberg. Peter completely wore it out!" Tagged Mayo Spruce size XL 46-48. The front of the garment is blank with a Jaws graphic on the reverse.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Heavily distressed condition consistent with extensive wear. The upper back left shoulder features a large irregular hole measuring several inches across, accompanied by multiple smaller holes and pinholes scattered around the collar and back. Heavy yellowing and stains are visible at the neckline and shoulders. A prominent reddish-pink stain is located on the front lower hem, and a dark blackish stain is present on the right sleeve. The cotton fabric is thin and pilled throughout. The screen-printed graphic on the verso shows significant fading and heavy cracking across the ink. The collar is stretched and exhibits fraying at the seams.
