Bamboo segment inscribed to Peter Benchley. Personal note from Wendy Benchley: "The bamboo segment, inscribed ‘to our favorite bamboo, the one and only Peter Benchley, ‘ was a ribald joke gift to Peter from a film crew." 9 1/2" L x 1/2" diameter.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund.
Condition report:
The bamboo segment has a longitudinal crack and splintering at the open end opposite the inscription. Surface wear and minor handling marks throughout.
