Description
Teddy Tucker (Bermudian, 1925-2014). Offset lithograph, Bermuda Shipwreck Map, circa 1970. This decorative chart identifies 38 historic shipwrecks occurring between 1563 and 1967 around the reefs of Bermuda. Each vessel is depicted in a small illustration surrounding the central map of the islands, with a comprehensive historical index provided in a scroll format at the lower right. A central cartouche includes a coat of arms and text regarding Tucker exploration and his discovery of a valuable emerald cross from the wreck of the San Pedro. Sight: 18 x 23 1/4 in. Frame: 25 3/4 x 30 7/8 in.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The print is in good condition with minor uniform toning consistent with age. The gold-finished frame shows light handling wear. Not examined out of the frame.
