Silver gelatin print, promotional portrait of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006) and David Doubilet (American, b. 1946) for the Rolex Testimonee advertising campaign, circa 2002. The large-format monochrome print depicts the Jaws author and the renowned underwater photographer standing amidst a field of shark fins, both subjects displaying Rolex timepieces. A framer’s label from Pierre Loretti in Geneva, Switzerland, is adhered to the lower right corner of the backing board, providing a framing date of June 27, 2002. Frame: 17 1/4 x 25 1/4 x 5/8 in.

From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.


Condition report:

The print and frame are in very good condition. The print surface is clean with no visible signs of foxing, fading, or silvering. A faint horizontal line artifact is visible in the lower center portion of the image. The black frame exhibits light handling wear to the edges. The tape seal on the verso remains secure.
