Description
Claus Meyer (German, 1856-1919). Oil on board, The Dice Players, 1886. The work bears a reproduced signature and date in the upper right corner. Housed in a multi-layered gilt composition frame decorated with high relief molding of pomegranates and leaves. Sight: 12 x 9 in. Frame: 25 x 23 in.

Condition report:
The frame is in poor condition with extensive structural losses to the molded ornament, particularly at the corners and along the inner borders. Crude repairs using gold-toned paint are visible over areas of loss. The gilded surface exhibits cracking and chipping throughout. The print surface shows fine crazing and minor grime.
