Lots 1–84: The Albert Grossman Collection

These lots come from Grossman’s Bearsville estate near Woodstock, New York. One of the most influential figures in American music history, Grossman managed artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.

The collection also reflects the character of the Bearsville estate itself, with period furniture, folk art, Western and Americana objects, copper cookware, artwork, rugs, lighting, and vintage audio equipment. Notable equipment includes components and speakers by Altec Lansing, JBL, McIntosh, Yamaha, and others, as well as turntables and related audio gear. Also included is a collection of vintage vinyl LPs found at the estate spanning rock, jazz, soul, R&B, reggae, funk, new wave, progressive rock, and singer-songwriter recordings.

A separate collection features signed photographs, letters, programs, manuscripts, concert posters, musical instruments, memorabilia, and a Steinway & Sons baby grand piano.

The collection spans music, opera, theater, film, television, sports, and popular culture, with signed material associated with figures including Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Gene Kelly, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Clint Eastwood, Robin Williams, Amy Winehouse, Muhammad Ali, Mickey Mantle, and many others.
