Dating to the early 20th century, this piece was manufactured for the Fred Harvey Company hospitality and restaurant services along the Santa Fe Railway line. The wrought heavy-gauge copper vessel features a tin-lined interior and a separate base plate attached with a reinforced band of copper rivets. Hardware consists of one long wrought iron handle and a D-shaped helper handle, both secured to the body with large copper rivets. Marked on the side Fred Harvey Main Kitchen. 12" H x 34" L (including handle) x 16 1/2" diameter.

From the Woodstock, New York estate of music manager Albert Grossman, best known for managing artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.

Condition report:

Original patina with heavy oxidation and verdigris concentrated around the base band and handle attachments. The copper body shows vertical liquid drip stains, surface scratches, and scattered minor indentations consistent with commercial use. Wrought iron handles exhibit surface rust and pitting. The interior tin lining is significantly worn, darkened, and oxidized throughout.
