Description
Western tooled leather youth saddle accompanied by a matching leather bridle. The saddle is constructed of dark brown leather featuring extensive hand-tooled floral and foliate motifs on the fenders, skirts, and pommel. It is designed with a padded seat, leather-wrapped horn, and high cantle. The underside is lined with synthetic fleece. The leather headstall features a split-ear design with a metal curb bit and flat reins. The multi-strand cord cinch is decorated with red woven diamond and bar accents and large metal D-rings. No manufacturer labels are present. 20" H x 12" W x 23" D.
From the Woodstock, New York estate of music manager Albert Grossman, best known for managing artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.
Condition report:
The leather surfaces exhibit significant dryness and cracking throughout. Scuffs and abrasions are visible on the fenders and skirts. Darkened areas from moisture and oil use are present on the seat and fenders. Metal hardware including conchos and the bit show oxidation and surface rust. The cord cinch displays fraying and soil accumulation. The fleece lining on the underside is compressed.
