Description
Pair of Empire Revival style vitrine pedestal display cases featuring burl wood veneer. Each piece is designed with a neoclassical aesthetic, displaying an antiqued finish with intentional fly-specked spatter detailing throughout the exterior surfaces. The top surface of each pedestal serves as a solid square plinth for displaying sculpture or lighting. The vitrine portion includes four-sided glass panels and a single hinged door providing access to the interior. Each unit contains two adjustable glass shelves. The pieces are supported by cast brass lion’s paw feet and include simple brass escutcheons with keyed locks. A set of keys is present. Unsigned. 40 1/2″ H x 12 1/2″ W x 12 1/2″ D.
Condition report:
Overall good condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. There are multiple small nicks and scratches to the veneer along the edges and corners of the bases. One pedestal has a visible vertical scratch on the upper frame. The brass hardware exhibits light tarnish and oxidation. The speckled surface is an intentional decorative finish and does not represent damage.
