Description
Three walrus bone letter openers featuring stylized eagle motifs. The collection includes a three-dimensionally carved example with a textured eagle head handle and a mottled, cream-colored blade. The two remaining pieces are flat-carved in a tapered form, decorated with scrimshaw-style engraving. One flat opener features an engraved eagle head and feathers filled with black ink, inscribed Larry & Alison Hofstad. The second flat opener displays a similar eagle and feather design with blue and black ink fills, inscribed Alison & Larry Hofstad. The material exhibits natural graining, mottling, and variations in warm yellow and cream tones. Largest: 7.5 x 1.5 inches.

Condition report:
The letter openers exhibit surface wear consistent with age and use. The middle scrimshawed opener shows significant blue ink staining across the engraved area. The three-dimensionally carved opener has reddish-brown surface discoloration on the eagle head handle. All pieces show natural age-related patination and minor surface abrasions.
