The Gentleman's Collection
Lot 6:
Description
G. Ferrari (Italian, 19th/20th Century). Pair of cast bronze equestrian sculptures, each depicting a jockey in full silks and helmet mounted on a standing horse. Each sculpture is mounted on an integral rectangular bronze base with a textured, earth-like surface. The reins on the upright figure are fashioned from wire. Both bases are signed in raised cast letters G. Ferrari. 13 1/4″ H x 15 1/2″ W x 4 1/2″ D. Location: 20C
Condition report:
The sculptures exhibit significant condition issues related to the horse tails. One tail is detached but present, held in place by a protruding threaded screw mechanism; the second horse has a completely missing tail with the mounting screw visible. There are minor scuffs and surface wear to the brown patina throughout both pieces. The wire reins on the upright statue show signs of slight bending and fraying. Surface dust is present in recessed areas of the casting.
