Herbert Morton Stoops (American, 1888-1948). Oil on canvas illustration, Ghosts of the Revolution. Possibly for Blue Book magazine, circa 1940s. Signed lower right H.M. Stoops and with Herbert Morton Stoops written in pencil below the image. With marks for printing in pencil around the margins. 36" x 29". Dirt and discoloration throughout, paint loss to the margins, some crazing and scratches to image, some inpainting. Provenance: Swann, Illustration Art, sale 2440, March 21, 2017; private collection, New York City.
