Description
Microfelt men’s fedora-style hat constructed of 100% wool felt in a medium brown tone. The hat features a pinched crown with a center crease and two brass-toned ventilation grommets on each side. The medium-width brim is finished with a raw edge. The exterior is accented by a smooth dark brown leather hatband secured with a functional buckle on the side. The interior is finished with a brown leather sweatband featuring a small brown ribbon bow at the rear seam. A gold rectangular tag attached to the interior sweatband reads LARGE, WPL 4384, Made in U.S.A., 100% Wool.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The hat is in good overall condition with no visible tears, holes, or structural damage to the wool felt. The leather hatband and interior sweatband are intact and supple. There is a significant accumulation of light-colored surface lint and fibers across the exterior crown and brim. The brass grommets show no signs of oxidation.
