Remaining Albert Grossman Estate Collection Heads to Auction Following Heritage’s Sale of Bob Dylan Bringing It All Back Home Cover Objects

Willow Auction House to Offer Bearsville Estate Furnishings, Chairs Upholstered in the Same Fabric as the Famous Album-Cover Chaise, Historic Reel-to-Reel Recordings, Music Memorabilia and More on October 8th

LINCOLN PARK, N.J. — September 2026 — A remarkable remaining collection from the Woodstock, New York estate of influential music manager Albert Grossman, whose roster included Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band and Peter, Paul and Mary, will come to auction at Willow Auction House on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. ET.

The offering follows Heritage Auctions’ July 17, 2026 sale of important objects from the Grossman collection that appeared on the cover of Bob Dylan’s landmark 1965 album, Bringing It All Back Home.

That Heritage offering included the original chaise lounge on which Bob Dylan and Sally Grossman were photographed for the famous Daniel Kramer album cover, along with artwork, decorative objects and other pieces visible in the photograph. The chaise, which retained its original upholstery, sold for $7,500. Other album-cover objects included a framed painting that sold for $11,250 and a wooden statue that sold for $3,250.

Now, Willow Auction House will offer additional property remaining from the Grossman estate — providing collectors another opportunity to acquire objects directly associated with the home and environment in which the iconic Dylan photograph was created.

Among the Willow offering are chairs upholstered in the same distinctive fabric as the chaise lounge pictured on the cover of Bringing It All Back Home, providing a tangible visual connection to one of the most recognizable album-cover interiors of the 1960s.

Lot 49: Chairs from Albert Grossman’s Bearsville estate, upholstered in the same fabric pattern as the chaise featured on Bob Dylan’s Bringing It All Back Home album cover.

The Grossman Estate, Autographs, and Fresh Finds auction features 443 lots, beginning with 84 lots sourced from Grossman’s Bearsville estate near Woodstock.

“This is really the continuation of the story,” said Jill Iorio of Willow Auction House. “Heritage offered some of the objects that can actually be seen on the Bringing It All Back Home cover. What we are offering is the remaining material from the Grossman estate — the furniture, artwork, audio equipment, records and personal objects that were part of that same world.”

Inside Albert Grossman’s Bearsville World

Beyond the Dylan album-cover connection, the collection provides an unusually personal look at the environment created by one of the most influential managers in American music.

Among the highlights is an unusual annotated Rand McNally map associated with Albert Grossman and Bob Dylan, containing annotations and connections to figures including Dylan, Janis Joplin, Dr. John, photographer Barry Feinstein and music executive Artie Mogull.

Lot 4: An annotated Rand McNally map associated with Albert Grossman and Bob Dylan, featuring references to prominent figures in music and entertainment.

Another standout is an Albert Grossman Estate Folk & Blues Reel-to-Reel Archive, comprising magnetic tapes documenting folk and blues recordings dating to the 1950s and 1960s.

Lot 5: The Albert Grossman Estate Folk & Blues Reel-to-Reel Archive, featuring historic recordings dating to the 1950s and 1960s.

Additional Grossman and Bearsville material includes Bearsville Studios and Bearsville Records memorabilia, an autographed Wavy Gravy birthday poster, photographs, vintage vinyl, artwork and objects associated with life at the storied Woodstock property.

The estate collection also reflects Grossman’s eclectic personal taste. Offered are period and primitive furniture, folk art, Western and Americana pieces, copper cookware, rugs, lighting and vintage audio equipment by manufacturers including Altec Lansing, JBL, McIntosh and Yamaha, along with turntables and related equipment.

A collection of vinyl records discovered at the estate spans rock, jazz, soul, R&B, reggae, funk, new wave, progressive rock and singer-songwriter recordings.

“These aren’t objects assembled later as memorabilia,” Iorio said. “They came from the Grossman estate and were part of the rooms, studios and everyday environment surrounding an extraordinary chapter in American music history.”

The Room Behind an Iconic Album Cover

Photographer Daniel Kramer photographed Bob Dylan and Sally Grossman inside the Grossmans’ home for the cover of Bringing It All Back Home.

Released in 1965, the album marked a pivotal moment in Dylan’s career and became one of the defining records of the decade. The cover photograph has itself become an enduring image of 1960s music culture.

Heritage Auctions confirmed that the chaise lounge sold in July was the original piece occupied by Dylan and Sally Grossman during the shoot and that it had remained in the Grossman home with its original upholstery.

The chairs now being offered by Willow Auction House retain the same fabric pattern as that album-cover chaise, linking the forthcoming sale visually and historically to the Grossman interior seen on the album.

From Woodstock Music History to Hollywood Icons

Following the Grossman estate material, Lots 85–169 comprise an extensive collection of autographs and entertainment memorabilia.

Signed photographs, letters, programs, manuscripts, concert posters, musical instruments and other memorabilia represent figures from music, opera, theater, film, television, sports and popular culture.

Among the names represented are Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Gene Kelly, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Clint Eastwood, Robin Williams, Amy Winehouse, Muhammad Ali and Mickey Mantle.

The section also includes a Steinway & Sons baby grand piano.

Peter Benchley Estate Collection Coming This Fall

The Grossman auction is part of an active fall season for Willow Auction House.

Later this fall, Willow will also present a collection from the estate of Peter Benchley, author of the bestselling novel Jaws.

The forthcoming Benchley offering will bring another fresh-to-market collection with direct ties to a major figure in American literary and popular culture history. Additional details will be announced as the sale approaches.
