Description
A large-scale battery-operated talking figure model kit of the iconic Robby the Robot, originally featured in the 1956 science fiction film Forbidden Planet. This kit was manufactured in Japan by Masudaya and copyrighted in 1997 by Turner Entertainment Co., distributed in the United States by Rocket U.S.A., Inc. as Item #114. The unassembled kit is constructed from black vinyl and plastic body components with clear plastic detail pieces still attached to their original factory sprues. Key features include a battery-operated talking function and a blinking light synchronized with the mouth. The kit includes interchangeable hands, noted with a distinctive typographical error as HANDES on the packaging. Documentation includes a bilingual Japanese-English instruction sheet featuring a detailed paint guide. The item is housed in its original illustrated inner box and includes the original cardboard shipping box. Box dimensions approximately 27 1/2 x 15 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches.
Condition: The kit remains in unassembled, excellent condition with components still protected by original bubble wrap and plastic sprues. The inner illustrated box is well-preserved with vibrant graphics and minimal shelf wear. The original outer shipping box shows significant wear, including tearing and creasing, but remains functional for storage. Electronic talking and lighting functions are untested. Complete with all original parts and instructions.
