Description

A Neoclassical style fireplace fender constructed of cast brass with a thick, dark-finished iron or steel top rail. The design incorporates integrated andiron-style end supports, each topped with a large urn-form finial featuring scrolled handles and hanging ring pulls. The central gallery displays a repeating pierced elliptical pattern. The fender ends terminate in three-way flared legs ending in detailed hooved feet. Two vertical metal support rods are located behind the gallery for structural stability. No maker marks or stamps are visible on the metal surfaces. 17.5″ H x 37″ W x 7.5″ D. This lot is located offsite in Rumson, New Jersey and will be available for PICKUP ONLY. Specific pickup instructions including the address and available pickup dates and times will be provided shortly after the auction.

Condition report:

Good overall condition with wear consistent with age and utility. The brass surfaces show moderate tarnish, patina, and scattered surface wear. The iron top rail exhibits surface oxidation, pitting, and some loss to the dark finish. There are minor scattered scratches and small dings across the decorative castings. Support rods are intact, though one is slightly out of alignment.
