Description
After Francois Rémond (French, 1747-1812). Pair of French Neoclassical style electrified candelabra lamps featuring patinated bronze female caryatid figures wearing classical drapery. Each figure stands upon a stone pedestal. The figures hold aloft central gilt metal standards that branch into six foliate-scroll arms and one central light, all currently fitted with white plastic candle-form sleeves. The lamps are configured as a mirrored pair, with the caryatids standing in symmetrical counterposed positions. Both appear unsigned. 33 1/2″ H x 13″ W x 14″ D.
Condition report:
One white candle-form sleeve is significantly chipped and broken at the upper rim. There is general tarnish, surface oxidation, and minor pitting visible across the gilt metal branches and candle cups. The patinated bronze figures show minor surface wear, small scratches, and light dust accumulation. The marble bases exhibit scattered small nicks and fleabites along the edges and corner details. The lamps have been electrified with brown power cords and standard two-prong plugs, and the wiring is visible externally, secured along the gilt branches with thin wire. Both lamps are in functional condition.
