Description

Medical teaching specimen of a human skull, prepared for anatomical study. The natural bone specimen features a horizontally sliced calvarium cut to allow internal viewing of the cranial vault. The mandible is articulated with metal hardware including springs, hooks, and pins to demonstrate jaw movement. The set includes the main skull, the detached calvarium top, and two detached temporal bone dissections specifically prepared to show the internal ear structures and mastoid process. The skull exhibits natural sutures including the sagittal, coronal, and lambdoid sutures, as well as the interior cranial fossae and foramen magnum. The dentition is largely present with natural wear. Unsigned. 6" H x 5" W x 8" D.

Location: 17C

Condition report:

The bone shows a natural aged patina with surface staining throughout. The upper front incisors are missing or broken. The metal hardware shows light oxidation. The detached temporal sections exhibit fragile edges and minor losses to the delicate internal bone structures.
