Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). The Importance of Being Earnest. Group of 14 pieces original costume design artwork. Mixed media with gouache, ink, pastel on paper. All with character and actor names and initialed TW and dated ’96. All mounted. Various characters, including 2 John Worthing (Daniel Gerroll), 2 Gwendolyn (Melissa Errico), 2 Chasuble (John Fiedler), Lane (Thomas Carson), 2 Lady Bracknell (Nancy Marchand), Cecily (Schuyler Grant), 2 Algernon Moncrieff (Eric Stoltz), Miss Prism (Sloane Shelton), Merriman (Thomas Carson). Merriman sheet 20" x 12 1/2". All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the off-Broadway production of The Importance of Being Earnest, Irish Repertory Theatre, 1996. Tony Walton designed the sets, costumes, and poster, in addition to directing the show.
