Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). Uncle Vanya. Group of original artwork and reference photos. 11 pieces of original scenic design artwork, with 2 pencil sketches on tracing paper and 9 pieces including floor layout, clock face, map, dining room ceiling, backdrops — mostly mounted prints, all with handwritten notations on the mounts. With 6 sets of mounted color guide photos, all with handwritten notations on the mounts. Larger floor layout 19 5/8" x 31 5/8" including mount. All as is and in production used condition. Created by Tony Walton for the Broadway production of Uncle Vanya, Roundabout Theatre Company, Brooks Atkinson Theatre (now the Lena Horne Theatre), 2000. Tony Walton designed both the sets and costumes for the show, after doing the same for the 1973 production. He was nominated for a Tony Award for scenic design in 2000, and several members of the cast were also nominated for awards that same year.
