Tony Walton (British, 1934-2022). The Boy Friend. Set model, and a group of model pieces, all mixed media with cardboard, acrylic and other materials. With a piece of original set design artwork, Sur La Plage Beach Umbrella, gouache and ink on paper. Model 22 5/8"W x 17 1/2"D x 12"H, gouache 8 3/8" x 7 7/8". All as is and in production used condition, and model and model pieces with missing and loose pieces. Created by Tony Walton for the regional productions of The Boy Friend, Bay Street Theatre, Sag Harbor, New York, 2003 and Goodspeed Opera House, East Haddam, Connecticut, 2005; and the subsequent touring production. Julie Andrews made her directorial debut with the 2003 production, and also directed the 2005 version. Tony Walton did the sets, having previously done the production design for the 1971 film.
