Description

Group of four West African style carved wooden objects including a maternity figure, a mask, and two vessel-bearing figures. The maternity figure depicts a seated nursing mother with a paper label reading Ashanti (Ghana). The mask is a Senufo style Kpeliye’e mask with a paper label reading Senufo (Cote d’Ivoire). Largest item (maternity figure) 22″ H x 5″ W x 4 1/2″ D.


Condition report:

The items exhibit a dark, aged patina with surface wear consistent with age and handling. Visible condition issues include minor wood shrinkage cracks, small losses to the finish, and general surface abrasions.
