Description
Pair of hand-colored Neoclassical grotesque-style lithographs in a narrow vertical format. One print depicts a central female figure seated on clouds, surmounted by a peacock and positioned above a pipe organ and birds at the base. The second print depicts a central figure of Neptune holding a trident, flanked by fountain-like elements and set above two hippocampi and a ship’s hull with anchors. The prints are executed in fine black line-work with selective hand-coloring in shades of green, blue, yellow, and red. The reverse of each frame retains a paper label from the European Art Studio, New York City. 14 1/8″ x 3 1/8″ sight size, 17″ x 6″ with frame.

Condition report:
No visible foxing, staining, or creasing to prints. The wooden frames show minor finish wear and light chipping to the gilded inner edges. The reverse backing paper on one frame shows significant moisture staining and discoloration.
