Description
Large Chinese giltwood openwork architectural battle scene panel. Late 19th to early 20th century. Front surface finished with gold leaf gilding over a red lacquer ground. 25 3/4" H x 15 3/4" W x 2" D.
Location: 35D
Condition report:
There is a prominent break in a tree branch in the upper right quadrant. A significant chip and loss of wood and gilding are visible at the bottom right corner, exposing the underlying wood. There is general wear and minor rubbing to the gilding on the high points, along with an accumulation of dust in the recessed areas. The reverse side shows remnants of adhesive tape and old labels.
