Description
Louis XVI style three-door bookcase with a white marble top. Front with three rectangular glazed doors opening to an interior fitted with adjustable wood shelving supported by notched side rails. The interior back is composed of solid wood panels. The cabinet is equipped with three brass keyhole escutcheons and includes two keys adorned with large yellow decorative tassels. The unit is raised on four tapered legs, each finished with a brass collar at the top and a brass sabot at the foot. The back of the cabinet consists of vertically oriented, rough-sawn wood planking. 55 1/4″ H x 76 5/8″ L x 13 1/4″ D
Condition report:
The cabinet shows wear and signs of age consistent with regular use. There is a notable horizontal split in the bottom interior shelf. Minor nicks and chips are present on the corners of the door frames. One leg shows significant finish loss and scratching. The marble top exhibits light, faint circular stains and surface discoloration. The back shows traditional construction with some modern wooden shims or reinforcements added to the lower rail for stabilization.
