Description
This large-scale cast bronze sculpture by contemporary American artist L’Deane Trueblood (1928-2022) depicts a young, barefoot boy wearing textured shorts, holding a fluffy puppy up to his face. The work is rendered in a realistic style with a warm brown patina, featuring high-relief textural detailing in the dog’s fur, the boy’s hair, and his clothing. The boy is depicted with a joyful expression, while the puppy is posed with its tongue out as if licking the boy’s cheek. The figure stands on an integrated, irregular bronze base with a rugged, earth-like texture. The sculpture is signed and dated in the cast on the base and includes a limited edition number. The literal transcription of the base signature is L’Deane Trueblood © 1997. The literal transcription of the edition number is 7/39. Height: 45 inches. Condition report:
The sculpture appears to be in good structural and cosmetic condition. Minor green oxidation is visible in the recessed areas of the base and textured shorts, which is typical of cast bronze. No visible evidence of repairs, breaks, or surface abrasions was found during inspection.
